Addison Road... And cookies.

members of the band Addison Road; Jennie, Ryan, and the other Ryan (who looked like Seth Rogen) stopped by the station today and brought cookies for the staff!

Then told us stories about their new music.

Then sang and played some of it for us.

(while we ate the cookies which were so yummy!)

Great folks. Fun music. Real life stories.  Love them.
*(honestly, doesn't the other Ryan look like Seth Rogen?)

Love shopping... well I do not love shopping in terms of spending money and buying things for people they do not want or need just to give a gift, but do love when I run across odd, interesting or funny things while working my way through a crowded mall or store.

This time Toy-R-Us = Fail   (x2)

PERFECT for the whole family... great for ages 8 and up.
Poker games?  Really?  (gambling = kid game fail)

While all the other board games were priced between 10 and 25 dollars, apparently there are some HARDCORE SNL fans out there who might want to get this game despite the shocking sticker price!?
 (typo= sales fail)

Great day, starting with the two things I really need.

Then great lunch with good friend (and my kid's new hero) Mike Grayson.
He and his band MIKESCHAIR are headed in to the studio to record
their second album, next week.  Can't wait to hear it!

Naomi is all ready for church tomorrow.
*(needless to say this kind of preparation has not ever crossed Eli's mind.)

The day that we wait for all year.... Iron Bowl day!

An amazing Bama start, ended with a fantastic Auburn comeback!

Momma is not happy.

but Daddy is!

my brother Chris helps me feel at home by sending me a photo from Toomer's Corner there in Auburn tonight where he and thousands of others helped celebrate the win.  (Wish I was there!)

Still a long way to go.  One week at a time, but this was a huge step.
War Eagle!!

I have much to be thankful for.

Thankful that the BIG oak tree limb did not fall on the house.

Thankful for the great helper this morning.

Thankful for a lovely home and amazing family.

Eli is thankful for pomegranate. He love the seeds.

Naomi is thankful for butter. She put it on everything.

Tina is thankful for family that eats and that I did the dishes.

I am thankful for brussel sprouts.

Tina and Naomi spent time learning how to play chess after lunch.

*(Naomi beat mom 3 times... then later she beat me too)

A boy and his melon. Pure joy.

Naomi could be a model!
(or at the very least a stand in for the model they used in this ad!)

*for the record, that girl's ears are a lot bigger than Naomi's.

November 20, 2010

Typical fall Saturday.  Everyone doing their own thing in the den
while we all watch college football games.

Eli plays football (with his cars as players) while he watches.

Mom does crafts while she watches.

Naomi plays with some cars.
(She does not really watch unless it is Bama.)

Dad keeps up with emails, twitter, facebook, blogs and
ESPN.com for other game scores while he watches.

Bailey gets off to another room where it is more quiet.

Parenting is tough, but things like this make you realize
you must have done something right!

On their own, the kids wrote thank you notes to the staff at Z88.3 who were nice enough to "collect tips" for the kids because they emptied all the trash cans in the office last week...

Naomi even included (on her own) a dollar from the money to give toward the station's recent fundraiser.
I know it is all learned from good parenting... and I also know that it was their MOM who is teaching them all this great stuff.  She has been working on teaching me stuff like this for years.  ;)

Eli is very creative when planning his battles and believes strongly
in the importance of a widely diverse regiment!

Pirates, monkeys, Gumby, Prince Caspian and a Wise man...

VeggieTales, Remie from Ratatouille, Buzz Lightyear,
Soldiers, aliens and Capt FeatherSword from the Wiggles...

Princess Amadala, (headless) Capt. Jack Sparrow, GI Joe,
the Emperor, Emile from Ratatouille and Mr Beaver from Narnia.

Sadly, not everyone makes it through these battles alive.
Poor Anthony, the Blue Wiggle. Brontosaurus was just too much for him.

The family who flu shots together,

gets together later to honor softball players for their big season!
(Naomi and "Coach Steve")

November 15, 2010

Turns out the kids "cleaned up" for cleaning up!

Seems my coworkers really appreciated Eli and Naomi
taking out their trash.
They have now decided to give up on lemonade stands,
and start an office cleaning business!!

Sunday, Funday!

Hanging on the Bailey, making sure she gets plenty of attention!

Then later I helped my kids learn the value of hard work

and working hard to earn a dollar.

No really, that is all they are getting paid. $1 each.  :)
