but also the most beautiful thing we had ever seen.

Laughter and Chinese food!
Tina and the kids helped me serve at the LAUGH ALL NIGHT comedy night with New Missions.

After which we at at a great Chinese restaurant on Eli's request to celebrate his "gotcha day" (the day we actually got him during the adoption processes).  Technically it is tomorrow, but we celebrated it tonight!

My birthday is coming up (9/2) and I got a card in the mail today
that I can honestly say I was NOT expecting....

Tina is very curious as to why I got this card and she didn't on her birthday...
I am just wondering what the heck mailing list I am on that got me this?!

Homeschool science today involved investigating a mole Tina found on their nature walk.

Moles are pretty cute when the are "sleeping" (dead) like this one was.

And magnifying glasses are FUN!

Tina did not think this little guy (or gal) had been dead long.  It was not stiff or smelly, had fresh dirt on its claws and the fur was super soft like a bunny or mink coat!

Homeschool has advantages. Studying about medieval times and battles, makes for fun class playtime... Especially in your pajamas!

Time for a fun homeschool science class project!
The mummified Apple!
One peeled apple is placed into a bucket of baking soda.
The other is just peeled apple in a bucket as the "control group".

In a week, we see that the unprotected apple is dried out, rotting and stinks.

While the "mummified" apple has retained its shape, still smells like
a fresh apple and although has a different color is still soft and moist.
